Planning a home interior: where to begin

Most interiors go wrong before any work starts on site. The drawings look fine, the moodboard looks lovely, but the way the family actually lives was never written down. So we start there.

Walk through a normal day in your head. Where does everyone drop their bags. Where does the morning light fall. Where do guests sit, and where does the family sit when no one is watching. These answers shape the plan more than any trend.

Once the plan is honest, the rest follows. Storage goes where the clutter already collects. Seating faces the view you actually have. Lighting is planned for evenings, not just for the photo. Get the plan right and the finishes have something solid to sit on.
